Data and Test Scores

At Morgan County Schools, we are committed to using data in a way that strengthens teaching and supports every student’s learning journey. While our focus remains on educating the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally—we recognize that meaningful data plays an essential role in understanding how effectively we are meeting student needs.

We believe that a student’s success cannot be defined by a single score. Factors such as engagement, well-being, critical thinking, and character development are vital components of a well-rounded education. Even so, data provides valuable insight that helps us evaluate and improve the work happening in our classrooms each day.

By thoughtfully analyzing student performance data, we are able to:

  • Identify strengths and areas for growth
  • Inform high-quality Tier I instruction and targeted interventions
  • Monitor student progress over time
  • Ensure alignment with the Alabama Course of Study
  • Make informed decisions at the classroom, school, and district levels

Morgan County Schools utilizes a variety of assessment tools to develop a comprehensive understanding of student achievement:

  • Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) – Measures student mastery of state standards in core academic areas
  • ACT – Provides a nationally recognized measure of college readiness
  • ACT WorkKeys – Assesses essential workplace skills and career readiness
  • mCLASS – Supports early literacy development through targeted diagnostic data
  • i-Ready – Delivers diagnostic insights and personalized learning pathways in reading and math
  • Progress Learning – Provides standards-aligned formative assessments and practice opportunities

Together, these tools allow us to move beyond isolated data points and instead build a clear, ongoing picture of student learning across grade levels and subject areas.

In Morgan County Schools, data is not used to define students—it is used to support them. It serves as a guide for refining instruction, strengthening educational practices, and ensuring that every student has access to the opportunities and support needed to succeed.
