Superintendent of Morgan County Schools
Every Student Matters. Every Moment Counts!
As the Superintendent of Morgan County Schools, I’m here to ensure our students receive the best education possible. Previously, as the Assistant Superintendent, I was able to bring a unique perspective to the importance of safety throughout our schools. I’m passionate about finding innovative ways to help our students grow in a safe learning environment. I have led through other leadership opportunities, such as the Director of Federal Programs, Principal at Eva School and Assistant Principal at Priceville Junior High School. I began my career as a teacher, basketball coach, and instructional coach before aspiring to become an administrator. My past experience of 20 years in education has given me the perspective from teaching to leading. During this time, my experiences have guided me on how important it is to understand the big picture and never lose sight of what is best for students.
I attended elementary and middle school at Eva School and graduated from Albert P. Brewer High School in 1997. I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education from Athens State University and a Master of Science from Samford University in Instructional Leadership.
While teaching, I was awarded Morgan County Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2014. During my leadership at Priceville Junior High School and Eva School we received Lighthouse status with Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence.
I am currently on the Athens State Governing Board for Education, a participant in the Decatur - Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, District Transformation Academy, State Public Policy Agenda, Local Public Policy Agenda, and State Student Safety and Security.
When I am not working, I love to spend time with my husband, son and daughter. Raising twins has been one of my favorite joys in life. When we have free time together, we enjoy sports, camping, and I love to listen to music.
One of the compelling factors that led me to becoming Superintendent was seeing the opportunities that our students have. I believe we are on the brink of our schools being exceptional here in Morgan County. Our focus will be on safety, culture, and instruction. I think TOGETHER if WE can conquer these 3 focus items then the sky’s the limit for our students!
