Early Childhood Education
This program is geared toward students that are interested in becoming a teacher or working with children but the possibilities are endless when it comes to careers. We have an onsite preschool lab so students will work with children 3 days a week while at the same time working on the soft skills necessary for a career.
Freshmen (1 hour): Child Development
1st Year: Education and Training, Early Childhood Education I
2nd Year: Early Childhood Education I, Teaching I
3rd Year: Teaching II, Internship, Senior Project
CDA, Child Care Director or Director of a Facility, Child Social Worker, Child Life Specialist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Mental Health Assistant, Social Worker, Clinical Pathologist, Preschool Teacher, College Professor/Teacher, Kindergarten, Elementary, Secondary, Special Education, Postsecondary Education, Adult Literacy, Remedial Education and GED instructors, Coach, Interpreter, Principal, Superintendent, College Dean, Curriculum Director, Program Coordinator, Instructional Coordinator, Education, Career Technical and School Counselor, Library Technician, Library /Media Specialist
Earnings Potential: $18,000 - $100,000.
Career Tech Student Organization- FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) & FTA (Future Teachers of Alabama).
Industry Certifications: Athens State University Education Entry Exam and Certified Guest Services.
