Degrees and Certifications:
The longer I am in this position, the longer my summers get. By mid-June, I found that I was looking around the empty halls of LSS and missing the hustle and bustle of students roaming the hallways, teachers preparing for and teaching great lessons and the general hum of busyness that goes along with every school year. This is not to say that I have not been busy. We have several new things planned for the new school year: new clubs and activities, new organizations, and new classes that we hope our students enjoy. We have been setting up a school store, ordering merchandise that students and parents may purchase in our office, and redesigning our school's logo. We have also set up a house system that we are calling The Eagle's Talons that I hope will be a lot of fun.
While all of this is great and has got me pumped for the new school year, I wanted to take a few minutes to talk to you about the hashtag that you may have seen used on various social media accounts, flyers, and letters throughout the past year. The idea for #wesoar came pretty easily when I found that I was going to have the privilege of being Lacey's new principal. I wanted something that we could use both as a social media tag and a short, easy-to-remember, encapsulated definition of what we believe about education and all of its moving parts: the students, teachers, staff, and community that make each day possible. It is not simply a useful tool, but a way to guide our everyday practice. When we use #wesoar, we are essentially saying:
We believe in every child's ability to to learn, to achieve, and to reach new heights.
We believe in setting high expectations and then helping our students meet and exceed those expectations.
We believe that excellence in every area - academic, social, and athletic - deserves to be celebrated.
We believe in building positive relationships that provide each of our students a solid, supportive connection to our school.
We believe in a commitment to excellence in everything we do.
We believe, in the words of famous Alabamian Helen Keller, that one can never consent to creep when one feels the impulse to soar.
So, this is where we need your help! Like and share those posts that you see on our social media accounts where we highlight our students and staff and the incredible things they accomplish daily. They deserve every bit of recognition that those posts bring and more. Likewise, when you see a Lacey's Spring student or teacher rising to meet that challenge of excellence, snap a picture and send it out using the hashtag #wesoar and tag us in the post. We want as many people as possible to know about the incredible things that happen at our school every day. As always, I want each of you to know what an absolute blessing it is to be able to serve the students and families of Lacey's Spring and that, should you ever need me, my door is always open.
Mr. Adams, Principal
