Hello Falkville!! I am Mrs. Leslie Martin and this is my hometown.  I graduated from Falkville High in 1995.  Once a Blue Devil- always a Blue Devil!  I am proud of my community. Some of my favorite past times are playing softball for the FHS softball team.  It was a passion that carried me to college and allowed my dreams of being an educator to come true.

I attended UAB-Walker on a scholarship, Athens State University, and Cornerstone University and have a bachelor’s degree in Collaborative Special Education.  I teach Special Education at FES.  I am also the Yearbook sponsor and am always in need of great pictures of our students.  Please email them to me!

I am married to Joe and we have 6 beautiful growing children –Alex 22 , Matt 16, Shayley 13, Quintin 10, Addi 10, and Macie 2.  Not done yet – I’m also a grandmother to Carter 3! I know I am too young to be a grandmother. :)

My favorite hobbies are gardening and growing a variety of zinnias and raising veggies to have during the summer! We also have a whitetail deer farm in Cullman, where we raise some of the best deer by genetics! FreMar Whitetails is on track to grow the largest whitetails in North Alabama. Come see us for a tour! Every spring we have a ton of babies that I get to find, vaccinate, and tag. It is so much fun to bottle feed babies and see them grow!

My favorite thing about FES is – I love the students! I have been blessed over the years to have the best relationships with the students and families that are in my classroom. It is an honor to be a teacher at FES.   GO BLUE!

Hello, my name is Mrs. Julie McAbee and I currently teach 2nd grade at FES. I am from Hartselle and graduated from Hartselle High. I attended Athens State University for my undergraduate and UAB for Master’s degree.  I have taught 1st grade for 16 years and 2nd grade for 7 years – 2nd is my favorite!

I have been married to my husband, Patrick, for 21 years.  We have a 14 year old son, Jonas, and two four-legged children - a schnauzer, Zaxby, and a shih tzu, Pippy.

The thing I will forever remember is the kindness of the faculty and my classroom parents the year I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  I had only been here 1 semester at the time, but everyone rallied around me and loved and supported me whole-heartedly.  It was beautiful and beyond anything I would have expected, and I will forever be grateful that I was here at that time in my life.

I like spending quiet time outside (reading for pleasure outside especially; and growing flowers).

My favorite thing about FES - The PTO, faculty and staff here are genuinely kind and loving.  I have never felt as loved and appreciated as I do here at FES.  We are not just people who work together, we truly feel like family, and I hope to stay here for many years.

Ms. Cristal Owens

Hi, I am Ms. Cristal Owens, and I am the TAG teacher, or Gifted Specialist of the Talented and Gifted program for K-12. I am your GT teacher until you graduate. This is my 16th year at FES, but up until a few years ago I always had two schools. I have also taught at Sparkman, West Morgan, Ryan, and Eva. Before joining the MCS team, I taught gifted reading in Huntsville. I am also the Chess team sponsor and the middle school Scholars' Bowl sponsor. We have our 4 tournaments at Cotaco every year involving all 9 MCS middle schools, so I recognize faces of students from all over Morgan County.  I also teach at Camp Invention each summer at Priceville Jr High, where we have students from Decatur, Hartselle, Morgan County, Madison, and Cullman.

I am not from this area. I came from a small town about 65 miles SW from here named Ashville. It is a little bigger than Falkville, but still has only one red light.  There is also a really big, old courthouse.  I graduated from Ashville High and attended Gadsden State Community College. Next I graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Finance. A few years later I graduated from UAH with a master's in History. A few years after that I graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a degree in Gifted Education. So what's the most important part of all that - of course it's War Eagle!!

I grew up in the country on a farm with lots of animals, and still go back often to visit my family. Unfortunately, I don't get to live on a farm now with my son, Mitchell, who is in 5th grade, but we still get to live in the country. I like to read, watch movies, cook interesting new foods, eat at cool restaurants, and travel with Mitchell. My favorite part about teaching at Falkville is that we don't have to go looking for nature or teach the students about all the creepy crawlies - all that comes to us for us to enjoy daily. I also enjoy teaching gifted and getting to know students from so many different schools. It's fun to introduce my Falkville kids to students from all around the county for them to make new friends.

After I graduated high school, I attended Calhoun Community College and Athens State University receiving my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I have just recently received my master's degree from Samford University in Instructional Leadership. I worked at Falkville Elementary School as a substitute and one on one aide while I was in college getting my bachelor's degree. Once I graduated I was hired at Danville-Neel Elementary as a 2nd grade teacher. I taught there one year before being hired at FES. While being at FES, I have taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and have been the instructional coach/reading specialist. I am currently teaching Kindergarten. I love children and couldn't be happier with the job I am doing. I have served the school in many ways such as leadership team, yearbook sponsor, student council sponsor, parent involvement team, math team, literacy team – just to name a few. My favorite thing about FES is the outdoor campus on sunny days. I have many memorable experiences throughout my teaching career at FES.

Hello, my name is Mrs. Carol Tyler and I currently teach Kindergarten at FES. I graduated from Falkville High School. I attended Wallace State Community College and Athens State University where I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I have taught Kindergarten for 14 years.

I am married to my husband of 43 years, Mike. We have 3 daughters – Lori Tyler Smith, Carrie Tyler Constance, and Lela Tyler – and 6 grandchildren.

My favorite hobbies are reading and singing. I have so many memorable experiences at FES.  One of them is when studying which types of wood float best, I asked a student what kind of wood he would use to build a boat. (I thought he would say the kind that we had learned about.)  He said," Gopher wood!  That's what Noah used to build the ark!"  My favorite thing about FES is the traditions, school spirit, lifelong relationships and friendships, and the “coziness” and small-town feeling.
