  • Summer School Information

To help families prepare for any necessary summer school plans they may need to make, here are the current arrangements for summer school.

For Grades 6-8, students who need to make up one course in summer school will take that course online through the Edmentum program.  Students and parents will be required to attend the first day training on Tuesday, June 1 at Sparkman School, where further directions will be given.  If students need to make up more than one course in summer school, they will still attend the June 1 meeting at Sparkman for one of the courses, but will also need to pick up packets to complete for each additional course that needs to be made up.

For 5th grade students, those struggling in reading will have the opportunity to attend the summer reading program at Danville-Neel Elementary.  This program will run on Mondays-Thursdays from 8:30-12:30 starting Tuesday, June 1 and ending on Wednesday, June 30.

In accordance with board policy, students in grades 6-8 must pass at least three of four core courses (English, math, social studies, and science) in order to be promoted to the next grade level.  Students in grade 5 are promoted based on a multitude of factors that consider the student as a whole.

We hope this information helps you as you make plans moving forward.  Thanks!
