The Credit Alternatives and Recovery Education (CARE) program is designed for students who for various reasons have gotten behind in credits toward graduation. The program offers flexibility in scheduling for and achievement of credits for graduation.
Research identifies multiple indicators of students who are likely to dropout of high school. Of main concern are students who get behind in credits and may even fail a grade. Ninth grade has been identified as the "bottleneck" where students most often get discouraged and lose hope of obtaining a high school diploma. CARE is a program of rescue for students who have lost hope. The goal of the program is to efficiently and effectively help students regain hope and return to grade level and then graduate from high school with their classmates.
